(More customer reviews)Okay so did some research on products like this and the only competition really was the Asus Touch Videophone, however, people complained about dropped connections and having a 50 digit password on network this did not sound like fun. So decided on this product I believe introduced in November 2010. This turned out to be the worse initial experience I have ever had with an electronic item and it has been turned around for return within 12 hours. This is a first for me.
Item looks very nice out of the box..light but sturdy...adjustment for screen is smooth..simple instructions..well packed, had all the pieces...set up appears quiet easy...but when you plug in, the power light on the front turns red and nowhere in the instruction book does it say this. You need to charge the unit first so that red light turns green. Not a big deal just unexpected.
It is the 'touchscreen' that will have you on your knees yelling at the thing!!! More like prod, push, poke...it is very, very awkward. I would consider myself a bit of a techie and have several touchscreen products. I started off at settings and could not get it to even register the country USA which unfortunately is towards the end of it's list...almost impossible to hit the right key before it jumps on to next screen..went back and tried to do it over twenty times before I gave up. Not just a little finicky, downright awkward. Name was slightly better as you just have to use the touch screen keypad. But then it is on to the date...one touch jumped it to 2037 and then touchscreen went completely unresponsive. An extremely frustrating experience.
Based on the previous reviewer indicating something of the same problem with his touchscreen this is completely unacceptable for a newly released product and a feature that is highly developed now. I have gotten no further with the product. With this kind of initial first experience it makes it almost impossible to even get any further to check out the other features. So for a product that initially looks good and seems to have useful features I personally would not frustrate myself by buying one. Groan..back to the drawing board but I think I will try the ASUS now in the hopes I am not one of the people that love it and do not lose their network.
