(More customer reviews)I bought this to replace an old Uniden EXA1978 900 mhz cordless phone with digital answering machine. The 1580 is equal or better in all aspects but lacks an input jack for a headset. I thought this would be a deal breaker but the addition of a speaker phone on the handset (I feel) makes up for this. My only other complaint which is a complaint about all digital answering machines is that you cannot turn off the volume of the base when someone leaves a message. You can only lower the volume to 1 which still allows you to hear someone leaving you a message. Not great when you're a light sleeper and you get a wrong number in the middle of the night. For what it is worth, you can turn off the ringers on both the base and handset. And you could turn the answer function off which would prevent the scenario just described. Sound quality and reception is excellent. Overall, I think the phone is fine for the money. Amazon's price at the time of this writing is competitive with a local box store that starts with a W.
