Parrot MKi9100 Advanced Bluetooth Hands-Free Music Kit Review

Parrot MKi9100 Advanced Bluetooth Hands-Free Music Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I installed this in our Honda Fit using an aftermarket harness to make it (almost) "plug and play." I decided to purchase this rather than the Bluetooth add-on for the (Pioneer) stereo already installed, as it (Pioneer's Bluetooth unit) received pretty mediocre reviews, cost more, and of course wouldn't work if I eventually decide to put in a different brand stereo someday.
If you're never installed a car radio before, this probably isn't the first thing you should install yourself -- I'd recommend having it professionally installed, since there are a good-sized handful of cables coming out of this thing that need to get routed properly, and you will most likely have to do some minor drilling and/or cutting to count the display and microphone if you want a really "clean" installation. As a yardstick, I probably spent 4 hours total on the installation.
Anyway, then, it does work as designed. The interface is fast and responsive, and I like the quality of the display. The software is pretty well thought out -- perhaps A++-super-nerd programmers don't work at Parrot, but certainly above-average ones do. Pairing works quite nicely, automatically connecting to my phone when I get in the car & turn on the ignition and disconnecting shortly after the ignition goes off. When you're on a call, it asserts the "mute" line to the car's stereo which also pauses CD/USB/iPod playback, which is nice. I haven't had any of the communication failures/lock-ups that another reviewer here did.
Some minor gripes are as follows:
-- While the noise reduction is effective up to ~45MPH (most callers wouldn't be able to guess you're calling from a car), it breaks down at highway speeds: Callers will still find you intelligible, but the occasional piece of a word is cut off and there is noticeable distortion. I attribute this so some degree to the rather noisy interior that is the Honda Fit (and most other inexpensive Hondas, for that matter) -- at some level apparently the Parrot just can't reliably separate your voice from the as loud or louder cabin noise. Those with quieter cabins may not ever experience this problem. (I have tried turning "lateral noise detection" off and it does make things worse.)
-- When hanging up calls, I often have to press the "hang up" button a couple of times. I suspect this is likely to be just as much the fault of the Parrot as my phone (a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2), but it is a bit annoying.
-- The manual is rather spartan. While it contains information on all the "basics," it does leave out explanations for some menu functions, which you're hence left to guess at. While most have names that make it easy to figure them out, there are a few where it's not quite clear exactly what the option does.
I think that this is a little on the spendy side for what you're getting, but overall I'm happy with it and feel that I've received a reasonable (if not spectacular) value for the money.

LG Bluetooth HFB-500 Solar Hands-Free Car Kit for Iphone apple Review

LG Bluetooth HFB-500 Solar Hands-Free Car Kit for Iphone apple
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Excellent design. Easy to operate. Good call quality. Easy and reliable synching with two cellphones. Most functions controlled by a single large press switch (top 20% of device) whose function depends on call and power status, i.e. answer/end, redial, voice dial, manual sync, and audible power status with power-on and whether call is in-progress, and auto sync with power-off. Solar charging feature is outstanding, especially here in Florida. Device has remained fully charged without the need for the supplied car charging adapter. I previously owned the highly rated MOTOROKR T505 speakerphone which was a nuisance to use - I threw it out. I purchased a second LG after two weeks of using the first unit.

Sony ECM-CS10 Tie-Clip-Style Omnidirectional Business Microphone Review

Sony ECM-CS10 Tie-Clip-Style Omnidirectional Business Microphone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been using Sony's ECM-MS907 for more than 5 years now and have loved it; so two weeks ago I ordered the Sony ECM-CS10 to use for audio journal keeping while on the road. When it arrived just a few days ago, I compared the audio quality of its recordings to that of my existing Sony microphone. In spite of its pleasing aesthetics, I found it to be a sad disappointment!!! The ECM-CS10 is a very noisy microphone with an audio quality far inferior of what I would expect from a Sony mic. (I wonder whether this is because it is a plug-in-power mic).
Frankly, I think I'm probably going to return it and look for something else. I've purchased a number of microphones on eBay and have only been satisfied with one other type of compact mic. Microsound makes it; and its a mic with a cable lead about three inches long. I'm not in any way affiliated with them, but I would recommend their product.
With all of this said, I think I still might spring for Sony's top-of-the-line lapel microphone, just to see whether it's any good.

Philips SJA9190/17 Caller ID with Voice Announce Review

Philips SJA9190/17 Caller ID with Voice Announce
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This item works great! Just be sure to press the VOLUME button if you don't hear anything when a call comes in. Make sure the batteries are good and make a test call. If you don't hear anything, press the VOLUME button WHILE the 2nd ring is coming in! The Caller-ID isn't sent from the phone company but once, between the 1st and the 2nd call. They don't make that REALLY clear in the instructions and I ordered a new one under the Philips name before I experimented around enough! I then pulled the old ClassCo 500 one out of the trashcan, tested it, and placed it on the phone in the garage. Hrrummmph!
Get the Philips or ClassCo VoiceAnounce 500. They seem to be identical. I have both now...
BUT!..the ASIN:B00016BYHQ ClassCo VoiceAnnounce Caller ID 9900CW - Call waiting caller ID actually announces the name and/or number if you prefer it and will announce an incoming call while on the phone if you have Call Waiting ID! Get one and watch your visitor's head swing around when your phone rings!

Miccus BluBridge Auto-Talk: Solar-Powered, Bluetooth Hands-Free Carkit with Talk-to-You Announcement.
Average Reviews:

I've never been a fan of DWP (Driving While Phoning), whether it's me or the other guy. Let's face it, it's distracting. No matter how many times I hear people insist they can handle it, most of the time I'm stuck behind or cut off by someone, it turns out that person has a phone stuck to their ear.
But now that everyone and their granny has a cell phone, mobile yammering is here to stay, and any attempts to legislate or regulate it will be roughly as successful as putting toothpaste back in the tube. The best we can hope for is to mitigate the distraction factor a bit by getting everyone to use some type of hands-free device.
But hands-free stuff is a hassle. Wired headsets get tangled, lost, broken or subjected to the "I'm just in the car for a few minutes" cop-out. And BlueTooth headsets are quickly becoming the pocket protectors of the 21st century - a fashion accessory only geeks want to wear.
The best solution, hands down, is BlueTooth integrated into your car. It's literally a no-brainer - get in the car, your BT-enabled phone and the car silently shake hands and get to work. Get out of the car, your phone's back on its own. Ever since getting a car with BlueTooth a few months ago, I can't imagine being without it. Unfortunately, I have to do more than imagine, because I'm often relegated to driving my wife's car, a primitive 2008 model without BT.
But the folks at Miccus have come up with an exceptionally cool, gotta-have-it device called the BluBridge Auto-Talk that makes any car a BT-equipped ride. It's about the size of a closed flip phone, and is one of those little pieces of tech that was obviously designed by people who were paying attention to detail.
The first two rules for any device designed for use while driving should be simplicity and non-distracting. The BluBridge comes with a clear plastic cradle that sticks to the windshield with suction cups, placing it easily within reach. The basic functions of answering and making a call can be handled via a single Big Button that's easy to push without taking your eyes off the road. Bravo. And the sound is far better than I expected from such a miniscule device.
It's got a whole bunch of more intricate features too, including multilingual text-to-speech announcement ("call from two-one-two......"), voice dialing capability (if your phone supports it), and it'll even download your phone's contact list. Set these functions up once, and after that you only need the Big Button.
For me, my number one challenge with in-car devices is remembering to keep them charged. My number two challenge is keeping all those charger wires out of the way. The Miccus folks thought of that too. The back side of the BluBridge is outfitted with a small solar panel. So while it's sitting there stuck to your windshield, it's sucking up the sun and staying charged. Clever. And with a talk time of 800+ hours, even the most overcast environment should keep it charged.
The BluBridge is hands down one of the coolest and most cleverly designed gadgets I've gotten my hands on this year. It's my number one choice for stocking stuffer this holiday season. If more people got one for Christmas, the roads would be a whole lot safer.

Ooma Telo Free Home Phone Service Review

Ooma Telo Free Home Phone Service
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We purchased an Ooma Hub & Scout in April 2009 to replace a Vonage VoIP connection. We are very satisfied with the hub, and therefore purchased an Ooma Telo for a second location. This review describes our Ooma Telo experience so far, and compares it to the Hub/Scout.
The Telo is well designed and sleek. The controls are touch controls and very sensitive. There is a USB port in the back - presumably for future expansion. Like the hub, there are two RJ45 ethernet jacks - one to connect to the "internet", and the second to connect to one's home network. There are also two RJ11 phone jacks. One to connect to your existing landline, should you have one, and decide to integrate the landline and Telo. The other is to connect to your phone.
The setup instructions are simple. While it is recommended that the Telo be connected directly to your cable/dsl/wimax modem (i.e. before your router), it works equally well after the router. We chose to connect the Telo to the router rather than the modem.
We were treated to a red & blue patriotic light show for about 20 minutes when the Telo was first plugged in, while it apparently downloaded firmware/software updates. I was a little puzzled by this, but presumably there have been updates from the release date (October 1) to our purchase date (October 3), or the first set of units were shipped without the latest firmware/software on them. In either event, there has been a second firmware/software update since then, so clearly Ooma are keen to improve Telo as feedback/complaints from early adopters rolls in.
Unlike the Hub, the Telo doesn't support the Scout. But this doesn't mean the Telo cannot provide a dial tone at other phone jacks in your house. For this, simply connect a splitter to the phone jack in the Telo, plug one line into the telephone adjacent to the Telo, and the second into the nearest wall jack. If the phone wiring in your house is intact, you should be able to connect a standard wired phone to any other phone jack. The Ooma Hub also supports this feature, which isn't readily documented in Ooma's product literature.
The Telo and Hub are indistinguishable in every aspect of call quality. Off course the Telo supports up to four DECT 6.0 handsets, and Telo to Telo calls will offer HD voice. The Telo will also support Bluetooth, and cell-phone integration. Although these features will be available in future firmware/software updates.
There are differences in the level and cost of service that I have described below.
For current Ooma Hub owners:
Ooma Core includes 5000 minutes a month, voicemail and caller-id and is free of regulatory fees for the life of the hub.
Ooma Premiere includes a range of additional features, including a second line, 3-way calling, multi-ring, call fowarding and many others. This costs $9.99 a month or $99 a year.
For future Ooma Hub owners:
Ooma Core will include 5000 minutes a month and voicemail. From the second year, it will cost $12/yr to recover regulatory fees.
Ooma Premiere will include enhanced voicemail, and the other premiere features. Ooma Premiere will cost $9.99 a month or $120 a year.
For Ooma Telo:
Ooma core includes 5000 mins/month & voicemail, and $12/yr from the second year on to recover regulatory fees.
Ooma Premiere will include enhanced voicemail, and the other premiere features at $9.99 a month or $120 a year.
For both the Hub and Telo, the cost of Premiere includes either a free handset a year (a $49 value), or a free number port (a $39 value).
This change in pricing strategy has made some claim that Ooma is no longer "free".
Well, it never was, although current Hub owners will not have to spend another dime for the life of their unit.
New Hub & Telo users receive 5000 mins/month and voicemail for the cost of the unit, and have to pay $12/year from the second year onwards to cover regulatory fees.
In my opinion Ooma continues to remain a good value when compared to other VoIP providers, although clearly early Hub adopters received a better deal than Telo users.
I want to note two other things that are common to the Hub and Telo. Our number ports were quick and efficient. And, while customer service can be difficult to reach, there is excellent support available from the Ooma community on Ooma's website forums. The Ooma employees who moderate the forums also provide support in a very timely manner.
Bottom-line, if you have Vonage or Packet8, or have phone bundled in with your cable, strongly consider getting a Telo. You will save money for service that is as good or better. With the Hub, we saw savings with the first six months. With the Telo it will be about 14 months before we start seeing savings.
Quick summary - highly recommended!

PureVoice
In today's connected home environment with Internet file sharing, video streaming, on-line gaming, Ooma's PureVoice Technology delivers clear audio even if substandard calling conditions exist. Ooma PureVoice Technology is composed of four key components.

Advanced Voice Compression
Ooma uses an advanced voice compression algorithm that reduces bandwidth consumption by 60% over standard VoIP technology. That leaves you with more bandwidth for all other online activities and increases the likelihood that your voice traffic will be delivered properly by your ISP.

Wire-speed QoS
Even though Ooma uses only a fraction of the bandwidth of standard VoIP technology, preserving voice quality requires that those packets arrive on time. The Ooma Telo prioritizes voice packets without slowing down the rest of your network. This way you can enjoy crystal clear calls even as you're uploading your latest video clips.

Adaptive Redundancy
Packet loss is the enemy of VoIP - it can cause voice to sound stuttered or garbled. The Ooma Telo detects packet loss on your Internet connection and automatically sends redundant packets to boost the clarity of your phone call.

Encrypted Calls
Ooma takes your privacy seriously. We use the same encryption technology governments use to protect classified data to protect your conversations. This makes Ooma even more secure than the traditional landline.

Discover Ooma Premier If you want to add a bundle of enhanced calling features that will get your home phone service firing on all cylinders, Ooma Telo includes a free 60-day trial to Ooma Premier, a suite of enhanced calling features. You can also add Ooma Premier to your service for $9.99/month or $119.99/year. If you sign up for a year, you'll have the option of retaining your current telephone number for free ($39.99 value), or receiving a free HD handset ($49.99 value). See the chart below for a full list of Ooma Premier features.Advanced Voicemail Features With Ooma Premier, you'll have access to several first-class voicemail options. You'll be able to enjoy the ultimate convenience of having your voicemails forwarded to e-mail, allowing you to check your phone messages from work. And for added privacy, you'll have the option of making any Ooma device a private extension. Instant Second Line If you share your house with a phone hog, Ooma's Instant Second Line feature presents a solution for you. When the line is already in use, you can simply pick up a second Ooma Handset and get a fresh dial tone. Up to two separate calls can be made simultaneously. Personal Number With an affordable Ooma Premier subscription, you gain access to the Personal Number feature. This feature allows you to create a unique phone number for everyone in the family. Multiple numbers can be mapped to the same handset, but you can make each number ring distinctively so you know who the call is for. Up to nine additional numbers are allowed. Add Unwanted Callers to Your Blacklist Ooma allows you to instantly add unwanted callers to your blocked list. If telemarketers are harassing you, use ooma Lounge to add them to your blacklist. You'll have the option to block future calls completely or send them straight to voicemail. The choice is yours. When I got the HTC Evo back at the beginning of June I just went to Wal Mart and picked up an FM transmitter there for 50 dollars, but it would only transmit to the radio but not charge the phone. For anyone who has an Evo, you know that the battery life is not good. Plus it had a so much excess wiring. I returned it and bought this off of amazon and it is amazing. It paired within 10 seconds and transmits with barely noticeable no static, transmits far better than the 50 dollar thing I got from Wal-Mart or the FM transmitter I had for my iphone. I put my phone onto pandora, plug in the charger and set it down and if a song comes up I want to skip, I can just hit the forward button on the flexSmart unit which can be easily adjusted to any position for your hand.
I love this thing, its not obtrusive, theres not a ton of excess wiring, just the gooseneck and if you want to charge it simultaneously you can just plug it into the usb port with the included 6 inch wire or use your own. The calls come in clear and great too, just as good as any bluetooth headset.
I highly recommend this if you dont have an auxiliary port in your car stereo, I was considering getting the gomadic one which is only 5 dollars cheapers, but has so much more wiring and the typical inconvenient control module built into the wiring. I'm really glad I got this one, I'm about to drive from DC to Portland and this thing will make the trip much more bearable and its not an eye sore in the car.

HP iPaq 510 Voice Messenger Unlocked Smartphone with Wi-Fi, MicroSD Slot - Unlocked Phone - US Warranty - Black Review

HP iPaq 510 Voice Messenger Unlocked Smartphone with Wi-Fi, MicroSD Slot - Unlocked Phone - US Warranty - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had a variety of phones, but this is my favorite.
Razr - Thin & light, but brain-dead synchronization with Outlook.
Cingular 8125 - Does everything, but big, heavy and some tasks needed the stylus.
My requirements:
- Quadband (world phone - works almost everywhere)
- Bluetooth (for headsets etc)
- WiFi (to connect to the Internet for faster surfing and places like Japan where Quadband doesn't work)
- Perfect synchronization with Microsoft Outlook
- Keypad (T9 - don't text enough for a full keyboard)
- No stylus needed
- Don't care about 3rd party software, but it's nice
The phone: The HP iPaq 510!
It fits my requirements great! And the Voice Commander software is pretty neat (some may think it's gimmicky, but it helps when you're driving a car).
Only minor niggles - wish it was even thinner (but the upside is HP put in a hefty batter) - keys require getting used to as kinda smaller (but hey, you got a big gorgeous display above them). Some people have complained about the screen not having higher resolution, but I find it fine (170x220).
With a little customization, this phone can be tailored to you! I changed the Shortcut keys, installed SmartphoneNotes (to sync Notes with Outlook), recorded some voice tags to improve the speech recognition (it actually can recognize speech without training, if necessary!) It will even switch from Normal to Silent (or Vibrate) mode whenever you're in a meeting! Sweet!
Note: Press and hold the Home key to get quick access to other function!
Love this phone already!

Eschewing the curvy yet bulky design of its iconic iPAQ Pocket PCs ofold, the HP iPAQ 510 Voice Messenger offers a downright svelte design as well as the power of the Windows Mobile 6 Standard operating system (for non-touchscreen phones). In addition to its quad-band GSM/EDGE network communication capabilities, the iPAQ 510 also offers built-in Wi-Fi for VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) telephony over open 802.11b/g networks. Other features include a range of voice commands, 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity for communication headsets, expansion via MicroSD memory cards, and up to 6.5 hours of talk time.
The new Windows Mobile 6 operating system enables you to view and edit Word and Excel documents as well as provides instant message capabilities via Windows Live Messenger. (See more details about Windows Mobile 6 below.) You'll also get an enhanced Outlook Mobile experience that enables you to view emails in their original HTML format and enjoy quick access to contacts with the ability to search a call history and contacts database. The iPAQ 510 is also very enterprise-friendly as it's the first iPAQ device to offer the over-the-air device management capabilities from Bitfone, which can be used by IT managers to remotely support the iPAQ's performance, security and access to applications, data and networks.
Nicely compact, the iPAQ 510 measures just 0.64 inches thin and weighs 3.6 ounces. It has a 2-inch micro-reflective TFT screen with a 176 x 222-pixel resolution and an LED backlight. The phone offers 128 MB of ROM (which stores the Windows Mobile 6 operating system and applications) and 64 MB of SDRAM (which can be used to store user files), and it provides approximately 65 MB of available ROM storage and 44 MB of SDRAM memory. It's expandable using MicroSD memory cards, which currently max out at 2 GB of storage. The address book is only limited by the available memory, and you can store up to 12 numbers per entry as well as home and work addresses, e-mail, IM screen name, and more. For caller ID purposes, you can pair a contact with a photo, a caller group, or one of 28 ringtones.
It has a 12-key numeric phone keyboard and a blocky 5-way navigation controller. Because this phone runs the Windows Mobile 6 Standard Edition, which doesn't support touch screens, you'll have to use the controller and keypad for accessing functions. The iPAQ 510 also offers more than 20 voice commands for easy hands-free operation. Using a powerful "voice reply" feature, you can reply to email by dictating and sending a voice response, without the need for any typing. You can also listen to email and text messages, navigate through phone and calendar tasks, and speak to start applications.
The camera on the back of the phone has a 1.3-megapixel resolution, and it offers five quality settings--from QCIF (176 x 144 pixels) to SXGA (1280 x 1024 pixels, good enough for snapshot prints). It supports GIF, JPEG, BMP, and PNG file formats. It can also shoot short video clips at 176 x 144 pixels.

TomTom VIA 1505TM 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic & Maps Review

TomTom VIA 1505TM 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic and Maps
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just got my Tomtom VIA 1505TM yesterday, and having just got off the phone with the (easy to reach & very friendly & helpful) customer service here is what I wish I'd known before I bough this: it's still in Beta and isn't supported by a lot of Tomtom's infrastructure yet. For example, as of today (April 5th 2011) you aren't going to find it on most of the drop down menus on Tomtom's website or as an option on the phone menu when you call customer service. More seriously, it can't connect to Tomtom Home which is the software that allows you to do the fun things Tomtom offer like downloading voices or other doodads to your device. I was really looking forward to customizing my GPS with various voices and I'm sad I can't do that. I am assured that over the course of this year Tomtom will send updates to the VIA GPSes that will eventually allow them to join the party but for now there is very little support for this product. I think it's kind of weird to release a beta that has less functionality than the models it supersedes without clearly warning potential purchasers so I'm writing this review today. I also can't buy a carry case sized just to fit my VIA - which is a different shape to previous models because it attaches to my car using a different system. I'm told its a better system but since this is my first GPS I wouldn't know.
Hopefully by the end of the year (as I said, I'm writing this on April 5th 2011) this review will be obsolete but right now, if you purchase this GPS today, you will not be getting a fully supported device. I'm not happy at having been lured into Beta testing Tomtom's new product line, this is my first GPS and I paid $200 for it, I wanted a great experience right out of the box. As it is I'm just feeling a bit sad about the whole thing, and even the charming customer service hasn't made that go away.
The thing is, this is a really nice piece of engineering. It is super easy to set up and use. It works in a fundamentally different way to previous Tomtoms, and you can use it while it is plugged into your computer. A friend of mine has an earlier Tomtom and I know she gets frustrated at not being able to access her Tomtom while it is attached to her computer so that is a definite plus. I'm not complaining about the device itself, it is very cool. I'm told that this model is the future of Tomtom, and that in time it will do everything the other models do and more, but the fact is that it doesn't do that now, today, April 5th 2011.
So. Early adopters and devoted beta testers rejoice! This is definitely the Tomtom for you. Buy one and enjoy yourselves. But those of you who, like me, just want to get where you are going with a bit of fun along the way, and the least amount of hassle, might want to pick something else.

The Adobe Photoshop CS5 Book for Digital Photographers (Voices That Matter) Review

The Adobe Photoshop CS5 Book for Digital Photographers (Voices That Matter)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm not new to photography, but I'm fairly new to Photoshop...CS5 in particular. In the interest of quickly getting up-to-speed, I signed up a few weeks ago with an Adobe Certified Instructor to provide personal Photoshop mentoring to me on a once-a-week basis. To supplement these sessions, I also joined NAPP and have watched dozens of their video tutorials; Adobe TV, etc. At the same time, I also picked up another highly respected author's book on CS5 (lets call it the "me" book) to try and put things together. The videos have helped, but I must candidly say that I quickly got lost in complexities of the writing in the "me" book and found it quite frustrating to say the least! Thats not to say that the "me" book isn't well done, but it is clearly written for someone that has had a fair amount of Photoshop experience in the past. IMHO, it's just way too detailed for the neophite user.
Then WOW...fast forward to Scott's new book which arrived at my home earlier this week. What an amazing book this is indeed. BANG...just open up to any Chapter and there you have a very straightforward, concise, step-by-step tutorial to guide and fast-track even the most inexperienced user through the process of getting the very best results out of his or her images. Photoshop frustration has been replaced with Photoshop fun. Trust me, using this book is like having Scott looking over you shoulder as you go through his easy-to-follow methodology. Even the complete novice can process some amazing images the very first time through.
Without reservation, I highly recommend you BUY THIS BOOK!!! Thanks, Scott, I'm having an absolute blast.

Are you ready for an amazing new version of The Photoshop Book that breaks all the rules? Scott Kelby, Editor and Publisher of Photoshop User magazine—and the best-selling Photoshop author in the world today—once again takes this book to a whole new level as he uncovers more of the latest, most important, and most useful new Adobe Photoshop CS5 techniques for digital photographers. This major update to his award-winning, record-breaking book does something for digital photographers that's never been done before—it cuts through the bull and shows you exactly "how to do it." It's not a bunch of theory; it doesn't challenge you to come up with your own settings or figure it out on your own. Instead, Scott shows you step by step the exact techniques used by today's cutting-edge digital photographers, and best of all, he shows you flat-out exactly which settings to use, when to use them, and why. That's why the previous editions of this book are widely used as the official study guide in photography courses at colleges and universities around the world. Learn how the pros do it Each year, Scott trains thousands of professional photographers how to use Photoshop, and almost without exception they have the same questions, the same problems, and the same challenges—and that's exactly what he covers in this book. You'll learn:
The sharpening techniques the pros really use.
The pros' tricks for fixing the most common digital photo problems fast!
The step-by-step setup for getting what comes out of your printer to match exactly what you see onscreen.
A whole chapter on how to process HDR (High Dynamic Range) images using CS5's new Merge to HDR Pro.
How to master CS5's new Content-Aware Fill.
How to color correct any photo without breaking a sweat.
How to process RAW images like a pro (plus how to take advantage of all the new Camera Raw features in CS5!).
How to use the included gray card to make color correction just a matter of three clicks.
How to show your work like a pro!
A host of shortcuts, workarounds, and slick "insider" tricks to send your productivity through the roof!
Plus, Scott includes a special bonus chapter with his own CS5 workflow, from start to finish, and each chapter ends with a Photoshop Killer Tips section, packed with time-saving, job-saving tips that make all the difference. If you're a digital photographer, and if you're ready to learn all the "tricks of the trade"—the same ones that today's leading pros use to correct, edit, sharpen, retouch, and present their work—then you're holding the book that will do just that.

Parrot MKi9200 Advanced Color Display Bluetooth Hands-Free Music Kit Review

Parrot MKi9200 Advanced Color Display Bluetooth Hands-Free Music Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I finally installed a hard wired bluetooth hands free system in my car after using an earpiece for months/years. The MKi9200 is OUTSTANDING; I wish I had installed one a long time ago. The installation for my 2006 Trailblazer required a wiring harness from one of the Parrot vendors listed on their website which costs an extra $75. Regardless, the voice recognition feature is perfect and the radio mute feature works seamlessly with my factory stereo. The calls are crystal clear and everyone can hear me without any difficulties. I found the installation fairly easy and would recommend this product to anyone who is tired of charging, turning on/off, and finding, your blue tooth ear piece.

In sum: If you want coverage independent navigation or T-Mobile 3G, you may consider this phone, but you must live with Windows Mobile and the most non-standard headphone jack imaginable. Pros:
1. Offers T-Mobile 3G on my grandfathered plan, though the coverage is spotty.
2. Nice screen--480x800. Feels good in hand. Nice form factor.
3. Decent sound in speakers after load Pocket Player. Sounds poor with Windows Mobile player.
4. Includes Opera 9.5 browser.
5. Sbp interface included. Quite glossy and graphical interface overlay. But takes work to set up and is flakey at times.
6. Some nice third party software can improve matters, such as Pocket Player, which has better sound and a resume function for audio books. Kinoma also is good and includes Audible integration.
7. The Pharos navigation software has ugly and dated graphics but does include turn by turn directions, and is not dependent on the wireless connection. A 2 gb navigation card in included, but this can be transferred to a card with more more memory. The gps was not as sensitive as advertised, but not too bad--it did pick up a signal in my tree lined street.
8. Is said to be able to be used as a modem. Haven't tried this yet.
Cons:
1. The most non-standard USB headphone jack I could imagine. I thought, at least, I could use HTC or Motorola Razr headphones or jacks. No. HTC jacks will not fit in the phone, and the Motorola USB jacks yield no sound. This is quite an outrage.
2. A close second for bad--Windows Mobile. The level of frustration which this OS presents is incredible at this stage in mobile development. It takes days to try to set up the phone to work in some reasonable way. The OS is slow and the stock programs are poor. The browser is bad--Opera is much better. The Media Player is horrible--the sound, compability and functionality. It will hardly play any videos. The freeze ups are common--many times per day with constant use.
3. A close third for terrible--the keyboard implementation. The biggest problem--if you touch the on-screen keyboard even a millisecond too long, you get multiple character entries. After using the iPhone, this is very annoying. Also, although it includes a nice sbp keyboard, it pops up inconsistently.
4. The touch screen functionality is poor; it is either too sensitive (selecting what you don't want) or not sensitive enough.
5. The accelerometer is flakey, being delayed in switching between landscape and portrait or flashing back and forth.
6. The jury is still out, but battery life seems very poor.
7. Many programs don't work--Mobipocket for books (a shame with the big screen); the divx player; and many others I tried to load.

Polycom Voicestation 500 Analog Conference Phone with Bluetooth Review

Polycom Voicestation 500 Analog Conference Phone with Bluetooth
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently started a new business venture working out of my home and have utilized my cell phone as my business phone, which works great because I'm able to always keep it with me, but it's less than adequate as an office phone. I purchased the Polycom Voicestation 500 to convert my cell phone to an office phone while at home and it works great. It's very easy and reliable to connect and disconnect via Bluetooth and, while connected, the quality of the full-duplex speakerphone is superb. Additionally, I have the V500 connected to my home landline and can use that line as well whenever needed. And that's where the "nearly perfect" description comes in; I wish the V500 had a caller ID display. I get caller ID on my cell phone display, but when a call comes in on the landline I have to keep a cordless phone (with a caller ID display) to see who's calling. Other than that, the phone is very high quality and delivers on every claim and I would definitely recommend to others.
