(More customer reviews)Open the box, turn the Motorola TX500 on (comes charged & ready to go), listen for the voice prompt to state that it's ready to pair with your mobile phone, set your phones Bluetooth setting to `on', wait a few seconds for the voice to announce that your phone is paired, and boom you're ready to place and receive calls! It truly is that easy.
The mini manual consists of a few short pages, cause there simply isn't any programming to work through. There are just four buttons to work (call, volume up, volume down, mute), plus the power switch and the charging connector. The four buttons are slightly raised for ease of use. This is a sleek, yet powerful speakerphone that clips right to your sun visor.
The first thing I did was press the call button, after hearing the beeps I said in a natural voice to call my husband's mobile number (using his name as it is listed in my contacts list); with nary a wait the TX500 called the correct number. **Receive incoming calls effortlessly by tapping the call button, your conversation comes through loud and clear thanks to the noise reduction and echo cancellation features. **The TX500 has great volume control with it's 2-watt speaker providing clear communication. Pair up to six different phones for each TX500; any two of which can receive calls (using the call waiting feature) at a time. Combine these features with the purported battery life, and this Motorola TX500 Speakerphone is an outstanding choice.
Added benefit: Can also voice activate iTunes playlists, and music by artist by tapping the call button and making your request.
For purposes of this review the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and Blackberry were used (Verizon, AT&T).j
** Updated Additional Comment: After moving the TX500 from a car (solid performance) into our Jeep (soft top), I had to downgrade my initial rating. With the wind noise that comes from having a soft top vehicle, it has turned out to be difficult to hear and be heard without the voices cutting out starting at about 35 MPH. So while the setup is seamless, and the placement of the buttons and simplicity of use is topnotch, the sound volume is less reliable in a soft top vehicle.
