I got these for language learning, if I repeat with the recording I cannot use the (now much more common) ear plugging type earphones that make your own voice sound strange. Open air like these are also a lot more comfortable for talking on the phone. I was surprised that music doesn't sound bad at all at lower volume levels, gets muddy though if you crank it. Overall about the same difference in sound as the original Apple headphones (which I had to replace do to the junk quality button and mic). When I made a test phone call, the other party said the mic was very clear.
I was very disappointed that with my 3G iPhone the volume up and down WILL NOT WORK. It is not Scosche's fault as the 3G just does not support this. But just as a warning to others, I had no idea until after getting these and searching the apple forums.
