(More customer reviews)I purchased this phone system a little over a year ago (from a local discount chain--sorry Amazon) to simplify getting rid of my land line. I did a lot of research at the time and decided this was the best of the available units.
It has performed very well, though it will occasionally "snatch" the connection while I'm talking on my cell and doing the walk-around-the-house thing as I talk. Easily avoided by using just the Vtech units while I'm in the house. I concur with the other reviewers who praised the sound clarity. Wireless range is very good.
The menu system is a bit clunky, but serviceable. I really like being able to transfer my contacts from the cell phone. Wish it would allow me to capture the number from an incoming call to add to the directory, but since it doesn't permit transferring to the cell phone, just from it, that wouldn't be much of a help.
I'm astonished at the vehemence of criticism re the handsets not being renameable. Is it too complicated to write #2-kitchen, #3-basement, etc. on a small piece of paper and tape it to the chargers? Sure, it would be nice if the handsets were re-nameable. But a 2 or 3 star downgrade? Get serious.
Though it has it's flaws, I wouldn't part with this phone system. Having used it for a year I purchased 2 more as holiday gifts to my daughters' families.
I've never posted a review before, but felt compelled to express my opinion about this product. I have no connection to the manufacturer.

Motorola HS820 Bluetooth Headset - Hematite Gray Review

For only $40 this headset is a best buy. I have no problems with the sound quality, volume, or people hearing me on the other end. It actual provides better sound clarity both ways then my cellphones built in speaker and mic. Set-up is no problem at all, and so far the battery hasn't run out on me (I charge it every night along with my cell). I heard a lot of people complain about the 850's volume output, but I dont have any problem with the 820. I use it with my Nokia 3650, and the ability to walk away from my cell phone is a huge advantage, considering I don't get cellular reception everywhere in my apartment. Now I can leave my phone in an area with good reception, and walk around the apartment with my bluetooth headset. Don't believe the "32.8 feet" range on the product description, that value is based on the bluetooth specification, which is really a maximum range assuming you have absolutely no interference at all (no walls or other wireless signals). However, I am able to walk about 20 feet through multiple walls without a problem. I basically get coverage everywhere in my apartment where I would possibly walk to (it gets a little staticy in my roommate's room, but it is still audible). The one thing that takes a little getting used to is controlling your basic functions using only one button. This is accomplished by holding the 'Multifunction Button' for different durations, and overall it works pretty well (once you remember what does what). However, I can't use this as a negative remark towards this headset, because basically all bluetooth headsets implement similar designs. An example of using the Multifuntion button: while connected, quickly pressing the button (a "short press") will answer or hang up a call, or activate voice dialing if there is no incoming call. Holding the button for about 2 seconds (a "long press") will redial my last number, or if your in a call, I believe it puts your current call on hold - however, I would rather not take the risk of hanging up and rather use my phone to activate hold or mute. The headset automatically connects to your phone when you turn it on (after initial pairing) which is really convenient. You can download a PDF of the manual from the motorola website so you get an idea of all the controls and commands you are able to pull of using the multifunction button. A definate pro is two volume buttons (increase/decrease) as oppossed to one, and the ability to switch ears with the headset and have the volume buttons work correctly in their orientation. The design look fine and is not very obtrusive and attention drawing.
(+) My favorite feature of this phone: Voice Dialing. With my Nokia 3650, I am able to program 20 voice tags to use with voice dialing (the quantity of voice dialing numbers and accuracy probably varies by phone model). However, eventhough my phone is not a motorola, the voice dialing (along with all the other features) works seamlessly with my phone. I love the ability to leave my phone somewhere else and call people using the voice dialing function. A great bonus while riding in the car.
(-) Only Negative --- The headset is rather light so it almost feels like it is going to fall off because the clip is not very tight, but rather just kind of rests on your ear. I guess this makes it more comfortable during long calls, but I kind of feel like it would fall off easily if I were to be running - although this hasn't happenned yet. Also, the blue light blinks every 3 seconds while not in call, which can get kind of annoying when in the car at night.
FINAL CONCLUSION: At $40 I don't see why there is any reason not to get this, it works fine and sounds great, so I don't see what other features another headset could offer to make it worth the price difference. I would have paid twice as much for this product and still been happy with my purchase.

Pairing the LG HBM-770
With the Power off, press and hold the PWR button for 1 second, to turn on the HBM-770.
The Headset will enter Auto-Reconnect mode, for 10 seconds (If your headset has been previously paired to the handset, the headset will automatically reconnect to the handset, when the HBM-770 is powered on.)

The part that wraps around the ear is flexable and keeps the earpeice close enough to the ear to hear well. No constant pushing to keep it in, like a plain earbud or even one of those jelly type things. Also, it is not big and obvious looking. The mic picks up sound very well. When talking to another person, they couldn't tell I was using a headset. I was worried that without a boom, that the mic may not be able to pick up my voice as well. Not so. Even with my car radio on, my conversations get through just fine. Excellent quality and worth the price. In fact, my husband borrowed it and won't give it back! Guess I'll buy another one.

(More customer reviews)I purchased two of these, one each for my wife and I. The are better than crap. :-)
I really like that this has a physical off/on switch, and this was the primary reason I purchased these. My wife's Bluetooth has a push button off/on and I get calls from her pocket and purse a couple of times a week, which is annoying, and worse, it means wasted minutes and it also means when she wants to use her Bluetooth it is dead from calling everyone in her pocket. So bravo Samsung for putting a physical switch on this unit - this should be a requirement.
We are pairing these units with a Blackberry Pearl Flip and a Samsung Gravity (We're on T-Mobile) and they sound pretty good. The audio quality is clear, which is key. Another reviewer mentioned their limited dynamic range, but since I am not trying to sing opera through my cell phone I haven't noticed a problem. Everyone hears me just fine, and in fact, they prefer listening to me on it over my Nokia BH-200 earpiece.
The unit is very small, and quite comfortable once you get it on your ear. Do note that getting it on your ear isn't as easy as many other ones are. The plastic ear piece is tight enough that it forces me to use two hands to get it on, so in a hurry I'll just stick the earphone into my ear canal and fit it over my ear while talking. I have heard the ear pieces are somewhat brittle but have as of yet not had one break.
This unit charges quickly and maintains a very long lasting charge. I can leave it off for many days and still have a lengthy amount of talk time when I turn it on. The talk time at full charge is listed at 6 hours, and I know I have gotten a bit more than that out of mine, though as time passes this will inevitably degrade some.
Would I buy these again, yep. They work fine, and while they aren't the top of the line, they aren't making those claims nor are they asking those prices. If you just need something that works, not something fancy, this will suit you just fine.
Update as of 5/10/2010:
The only thing I would add to the review above is that the plastic ear hook is quite fragile. I thankfully purchased 2 headsets originally so I've gotten more life overall, but I have now broken the second ear hook. This is not a good design if you carry the earpiece in your pocket like I do. If you leave the unit sitting on a desk or in your car it'll probably last forever, but I keep snapping them when I sit down with them in my pocket. I called Samsung USA - 1-800-726-7864 - and they do sell the ear hooks by themselves for $2.99 each. So I ordered 4 of them.

(More customer reviews)I have been using Plantronics Voyager 510 for a while and very happy with that product. It was very light and comfortable and I hardly noticed it on my ear. unfortunately, I machine washed this unit along with my cloths (unknowingly :-) ) and obviously, it couldn't sustain that.
I was searching for another headset. I was looking for clear voice, noise reduction and capability to pair with multiple devices as I use two phones. I noticed Discovery 650 for its multi-point technology and the sleek design. However, I must say that I'm very disappointed and I will never recommend this to anyone.
Given below are the problems I noticed...
- Buttons are very hard. This is really a nuisance when you have to transfer call from headset to phone and reverse. You will really have to press and hold the headset against your ear canal and its very painful.
- Headset behaves erratically at times. It doesn't switch off/on or get connected to the phone.
- Voice quality is not good. No noise canceling.. It even gives static at times.
- The way ear buds are fitted to the headset is not good. It keeps coming off. There is a third component that keeps the headset fixed to the ear. But, even that keeps coming off.
- You need to charge this unit frequently. I do this alternate days where as I used to charge Voyager 150 once in a week.

QuickPair Pairing Instructions Headsets with QuickPair are automatically in pairing mode when powered on until paired with the first device.
Step 1: Start with headset powered OFF. Hold down headset Call Control button for four seconds--release when Indicator Light flashes red and blue. Headset is now discoverable. Headset will remain discoverable until it is paired with its first device.

(More customer reviews)I like this headset because it sounds crystal-clear, and it's compatible with my Motorola Tracfone W376g. Motorola's instruction manual says to use a 3.5mm headset, but I learned that's actually WRONG. A 3.5mm is too big to fit the phone. But luckily, the headset comes with a 2.5mm adapter that you plug into the 3.5mm then to the phone, and it fits perfectly. Since this headset comes with a 2.5mm adapter, that means that it can be used with a variety of different devices such as computers, CD players,and some cell phones. This was a great value and shipping was fast.
I forgot to mention that the actual package doesn't say that you can use it with Motorola Tracfone W376g, but it worked perfect for me. Also, this set DOESN'T come with earbud cushions, so you'll have to buy them separately. I found some great ones here at BELKIN TuneBuds for iPod
This was part of my first order with amazon.com, and I'm very pleased.

(The switch mechanism is plain black plastic, narrower than pictured with a button/switch in the center, the earphone cables are different lengths, and the left hand cable is fairly short, so you have a black chunk of plastic in your line of vision, dangling.) That said, the earphones are actually fairly sensitive, and seem securely attached to the "black box". Have not used them to answer a call, yet, but for listening to music, with the built-in mp3 player, they seem to work well enough.
The left hand ear-piece tends to fall from your ear easily, as the black box swings about. As there is no padding or anything to conform to your ear, or to hold it in place, all you can do is attempt to wedge it into your ear. This is a problem for anything to be used in a moving vehicle.

(More customer reviews)I hate headsets, and since I live in fascist California, I had to have some sort of Bluetooth device (good for Bluetooth, not so good for the rest of us. Numerous studies have proven these devices DO NOT prevent accidents.) Anyway, this speakerphone was cheap and it worked fairly well for exactly one year. Then it died. What do you expect for $20? I definitely got my money's worth.

(More customer reviews)First, I'd recommend reading all of the reviews for the LG Chocolate headphones which are identical to this except that they fit a standard 2.5mm headphone jack port and are silver, where these are specifically for those LG phones that have no such port such as my VX8700. I've found that all of the positive statements about the versatility of that setup are equally true for this one, right down to being able to plug into an input port on your car stereo (if equipped) to play through your auto stereo speakers hands-free and still be able to take and place calls.
That said I have some specific comments about the so-called "throwaway" earbuds that come with this set-- primarily that they are far better than they seem at first with but one small addition. Initially I had problems fitting them into my ear and they'd fall out if I even turned my head. While relatively clear, or at least as clear as my Sony Fontopia buds, they were lacking in bass for tracks that require good bass response such as Journey, The Eagles, Enya, or virtually all movie sound tracks(especially John Williams!). However, I took the little foam cover "booties" off of the Creative earbuds that came with my Zen and VOILA! they not only would stay comfortably in my ears but had greatly increased bass response with very little loss in midrange and high-end clarity! IMO they are now as good as the Sennheiser CX300 (bass as good without the tinniness, though not quite as clear midrange and highs) and better than the Fontopias or SP630's all-around. Nowhere near as good as CX500's or my monster supra-aural Sennheiser headphones, of course, but as good as anything I've tried in the $50 earbud class and better than most, and that's awesome condidering the price. So try some foam earbud covers before condemning these buds and springing for more expensive ones.
Overall I give this item a "100" on it's report card for it's price, versatility, and quality given it's intended purpose.

(More customer reviews)This wired Motorola RAZR headset is better than a Bluetooth one for these reasons:
-the mic is closer to your mouth so your voice will sound better and clearer than a Bluetooth headset where the mic is way up by your ear. I tried a wireless Bluetooth headset and my voice always sounded distant and callers could hear ambient room noise around me. They said I sounded like I was using a speakerphone. But when I use this wired headset, they say my voice is quite clear and loud.
-it's easier to just plug in this wired headset at any time than fool around with the settings for syncing with the Bluetooth when you want to be on headset.
-This headset is easier to carry with you than a Bluetooth one and no AC adapater charger or battery is required.
-This headset is cheaper than a Bluetooth headset and in fact comes bundled with some RAZR phones.
The only reason I'm not rating this headset 5 stars is that I agree with other reviews, the earpiece doesn't fit that snuggly in the ear. This is a minor complaint for me though as the headset does pretty much what I want it to do and it does it nicely.
